Hello my name is Chloe.
I’m a mum of 3 beautiful children and a fur baby too. The best days are family days especially the weekends when my children are off school, we go on days out, trips to the park and cuddles on the sofa watching movies.
I currently work at Bargain Booze, the job is quite simple really, serving, stocking and cleaning. It’s only a small team but we’re all like a second family.
I don’t really have any hobbies anymore however I used to be a morris dancer, I danced for 17 years on and off but then had to hang up my pumps due to being too busy with family and work. My new thing I enjoy doing now is walking, whether this be on my own, with my auntie or with a walk and talk group that I joined, I’ve found it to be so refreshing for the mind and the views are simply beautiful.

Hi I am Jade, a Energy Advisor and volunteer. I joined the team 18 months ago after deciding to take a break from my career of 6 years in optics due to mental health struggles. I am very open with my battle with anxiety and depression, I would like to think that discussing my issues may help others speak up about their own.

My role at the pantry is to discuss energy safety in your homes as well as deliver slow cooker sessions and keep our website running.

I live with my husband Niall, furbaby Buzz and our newest addition Oliver who is 3 months old.

I enjoy dog walks, shopping and a new hobby of mine is to sew, most recently I have been learning to embroider. Last year I made stuffed animals for my nieces for christmas.

Chairs AGM Report

The People’s Pantry Ellesmere Port                                                                     November 27th, 2024

On behalf of the Board of Trustees for the People’s Pantry Ellesmere Port, I am pleased to welcome you to this year’s Annual General Meeting.

Before we begin this year’s meeting, I would like to introduce you to our board of trustees.

Myself - Kathleen Spain, Chair person

Tracey Anelay-Jones – Treasurer

Erika Neill - Secretary

Maria Watton – Vice Secretary

Hayley Hodkinson –

I would like to thank our trustees, for all their dedicated efforts and impressive attitude towards such a worthwhile organisation

Who are we, what do we do?

For those of you who may not be aware of what our group do and why we do it.

To provide compassionate, practical support to people in crisis to tackle the root causes that lock people into poverty and build peoples resilience, so they are less likely to need a foodbank in the future.

We will offer a safe space for everyone, encourage people to take control of their own wellbeing through training, support and practical help.

At all times we will show respect, compassion and confidentiality to people who enter The Peoples Pantry. We will engage with working people who are struggling due to the rising energy costs and lower wages; assisting them in accessing services and support – letting them know there is no shame in asking for a hand up - it is not a handout.

To achieve this, we will work with agencies such as but not exclusive to – The Local Authority, Housing Providers, Citizen’s Advice, Health Care Professionals, Work zone, Emergency Services, Kids bank Chester, ; to offer a wide range of support to single people, small and large families, working families, people of pensionable age – such as a free hot meal each week, gardening activities, space to relax and chat, practical advice, a listening ear – how to live on a budget.

I have been in the role of Chairperson for just 6 months now, I am thoroughly enjoying my time in this position, experiencing many different aspects to the day to day running, meeting new individuals as well as organisations who we can link with to further the help we can give to any individual in need of a hand up.

In this short time, I have undertaken many training opportunities and will continue to attend these in the upcoming future. During this time, I have undertaken the harsh reality of what some people experience in their day to day lives and can see more clearly from meeting people, talking to individuals and seeing how people with mental health struggle unaided, mainly since they don’t know where or who to turn to for help and support. We have met countless homeless individuals, who just need a bit of a safe space to sit with a hot drink, a friendly face who doesn’t judge them and a meal. We help as much as possible, with two flasks one filled with hot water, one with a soup of their choice, tea bags or coffee and a few tins of soup to take. We also share with them where is open daily for them to have the flasks refilled, or to go to get a hot meal. It has been eye opening what people in our own community can and are experiencing and a privilege to help them in any way we as a group can help.

Our connections have improved across  Ellesmere Port this is widely due to the linking of our work with Cadent. Cadent has been very successful in helping us to help build connections to other groups, agencies and individuals. Through this provision we have helped families to cut back on fuel costs, shop on a budget, think about the safety in and around their homes.

Our well being sessions have been very valuable to help locals with their own self wellbeing, with social isolation, having a warm safe environment to attend where they enjoy meeting others.

Two of our trustees now run a restaurant provision within Hollymere (0ver 50’s assisted living) this is fed back to us as being a successful new venture, where they run a chair exercise class on a weekly basis. There is also a monthly film night with tea. Following from this the possibility has arisen to run a further venue in Winsford. We are presently looking into this. Well done to all involved in this new venture.

I am proud of our team, who always go above and beyond as volunteers to help all who walk through our doors. I enjoy this role as Chair and look forward to continuing with the other trustees over the following years.
